Realtor doesn’t abide by contract when renting.

by Kim Lloyd on March 12, 2010

I just want to give everyone in the Calgary area and Langdon area, a warning to be careful dealing with a Re/Max realtor by the name of Kent Bamber. He treated a family member who was attempting to rent property from him, in a very dishonest way, and got away with it. We are concerned that this kind of business practice may extend not only from how he manages his rental properties, but to his real estate practice as well.

So, just a heads up warning when dealing with him.

Great to have a forum like this to help victims out.

Kim,

As you are well aware, when this issue was placed in front of Alberta Tenancy, it took them less than 2 minutes to strongly decide in our favor. I suggest that your post be removed by no later than 7/26/10. Should it not be removed by that time, Ian McKay of Dunn & McKay will be in contact w you shortly thereafter regarding slander charges.

Take care,

Kent Bamber

I for one believe that people have the right to know what kind of ethics a realtor has before hiring them. There should be a website dedicated to these matters. Since the price of housing has doubled, a few years ago so have realtors wages have increased. Do you recieve more for the money you are paying, I believe not. I have myself had a bad experience with realtors. I do not believe they are doing enough to protect the consumer, and there is very little said about this subject. We also have goten to the point were, I believe we will go FSBO in the future. At least that way you only have to find a good lawyer. The realtor prior to the one we have now did not know what a phone was, once we finalized signing the contract we never heard from him again. he would not return our phone calls, and when it came time to sell ha sent his stager to sign the paperwork. I do not remeberhiring the stager. Not only that they wanted our house staged , in order to sell, that was another 700.00 out of pocket. All that does is leave them less work and more money out of your pocket. If they want to stage your home let them pay for it.Due to the fact, we were not given the sellers contract, on the day of moving we had left the washer dryer thinking they were in the purchasers contract, only to get a message from the realtor that we forgot to take them, before we had time to respond, our realtor phoned the purchaser and told them out of good faith they could keep them. My husband phoned the realtor and proceeded to tell him what he thought. Needless to say we will never use him or Remax again. It has become less about protecting your client, and more about how much I can make on my client. That is what they tend to forget, they are getting paid to do a job, in any other industry they would be fired.
